Branchless banking and point of sale network (Peru)
As Peru’s financial institutions, utility companies, and consumer-oriented businesses continue to expand nationally, a pressing need for an alternative sales, transaction, and payment channel with a nationwide footprint became apparent.
MC Capital partnered with Scotiabank, Crediscotia, and BBVA to build a branchless banking and bill payment network comprised of grocery stores, pharmacies, Internet cafes, and other retail businesses. Affiliate businesses are interconnected by a technological platform that bridges the “last mile” gap between businesses and consumers, especially in the quickly growing suburbs of Lima and other cities in Peru, which lack basic services such as bank branches, payment centers, mail delivery, and internet penetration.
